The bachelor's thesis concerns the research of the knowledge of the younger school children about life-saving situations. A group of fourteen children visiting the second school class in the Prague West district was used as a sample. The goal of my thesis was to gain a picture about the knowledge of the eight years old children about urgent first aid as well as to give the children a quide how to act in the unfamiliar crisis situations. The thesis is divided into two parts. Theoretical part is divided into separate chapters. The beginning is devoted to an introduction into the topic of the urgent first aid, to present the components and function of the integrated rescue system and there are as well some statistics mentioned here. The second chapter deals with general procedures recomended when providing first aid. In the last chapter I describe particular selcted life-threatening situations and methods of first aid provision. In the empirical part the methodology and organization of the research is decribed. I have used a qualitative focus group method in connection with practical training of some urgent first aid techniques. Also the percentage and graphical evaluation of the research outcomes and goals is enclosed here. This part of the thesis is wrapped up by a discussion. Key words: life...

The knowledge of providing first aid of members of the Police of the Czech Republi in the South Bohemie Region
HOMOLOVÁ, Lucie
The bachelor thesis "The knowledge of providing first aid of the members of the Police of the Czech Republic in South Bohemia Region" focuses on first aid and individual components of the Integrated Rescue System. At the beginning of the theoretical part I will focus on the history of first aid and its current procedures and methods. Furthermore, I will mention providing first aid for particular conditions, where I will focus on situations that can immediately put us at risk of life, including unconsciousness, choking and bleeding. The injuries of limbs can also endanger our lives, therefore I chose a fracture. In the second part, I will describe the individual components of the integrated rescue system, their purpose and operations. The ultimate point is the education of Czech police officers, which takes place at secondary schools with a school-leaving examination (A-levels) or at higher police schools. Last but not least, training is provided through qualification courses, seminars and lectures provided by the Ministry of the Interior. In the practical part, two goals and three research questions were set, which I answered by evaluating the completed questionnaires. The main aim of the thesis was to assess the current state of basic knowledge and skills of the Czech Police regarding first aid and whether the age or length of work experience of respondents influences the depth of this knowledge. The questionnaire concentrated on basic knowledge of first aid, which should be provided by each of the integrated rescue system components. 50 respondents from selected workplaces of the South Bohemian Region participated in the questionnaire survey. Subsequent results were graphically depicted for a better understanding. In conclusion, research has found that, apart from a few exceptions, the current state of the knowledge of first aid is at a good level, nevertheless those should be deepened in certain areas.
Elementary and middle school students and teacher's knowledge of first aid
KNOSOVÁ, Marie
The topic of this bachelor thesis is Knowledge of teachers and students of primary and secondary schools in first aid provision. The theoretical part defines first aid and describes its types. Subsequent chapters focus on first aid legislation, organisation of the Emergency Medical Service, and available tools for first aid provision. Further follows description of selected basic conditions and associated first aid. Next two chapters deal with first aid education of teachers and students of primary and secondary schools. Last chapter describes the possibility of cooperation with The Czech Red Cross and the Emergency Medical Service, who provide first aid training for schools and public. The practical part consists of qualitative research. Semi-structured interviews with teachers and students of primary and secondary schools in The Vysočina Region were used. In the elementary school the interview was lead with students of the ninth grade and their teachers. In the secondary school the interview was lead with students of the third year and their students. The interviews contained 22 questions focused on the knowledge of first aid and on the issue of first aid education. The interviews are transcribed in the practical part and the answers are also processed in tables for clarity. The conducted research survey showed that knowledge of teachers and students of primary and secondary schools in first aid is not sufficient and therefore it would be appropriate to include first aid courses in curriculum of each grade/year and also to provide courses for teachers.

Unconsciousness of unknown etiology in first contact
KOŠŤÁL, Jan
This Bachelor Thesis deals with the topic: "Unconsciousness of unclear etiology upon the first contact of the emergency services with a "patient". The causes of unconsciousness are generally very diverse, which means that the exact cause can remain unclear during the first contact and during the phase of pre-hospital emergency treatment.Duringthelaterphaseof hospital care, more time and more sophisticated ways of examination are available to clarify the exact cause of unconsciousness. In the theoretical part of this Thesis, was a summarize the basic knowledge on consciousness and on the causes of impaired consciousness or unconsciousness. Next is a describe the diagnostics of unconsciousness during the pre-hospital medical care and present the practical procedures that need to be followed by paramedics taking care for unconscious patient. The most often causes of unconsciousness are: hypoglycemia, intoxications, craniocerebral injuries, hypoxia linked to cardiopulmonar resuscitation, bleeding to brain and brain stroke. From the point of view of the paramedic, the most important is to make early distinction between the states linked to intoxication or metabolic disorders and the states linked to intracranial injuries, bleeding and stroke. While the former states require immediate intervention by paramedic, the later states require neurosurgical intervention in the hospital. In the experimental part of this Thesis, was mapped the practical knowledge of paramedics on pre-hospital medical care for for unconscious patient. The mapping was conduct using the technique of standardized semi-structured dialogues with 14 respondents paramedics selected from all seven regional stations of the Emergency services of the South bohemian district, Czech Republic. The respondents differed in age, duration of their professional career, and level of education. All respondents answered 16 questions. All their answers are presented in the Thesis in the full form as well as processed in the Table form. In investigation proved practical difficulties with the diagnostics of unconscious patients. The results indicate that more attention should be paid by paramedics to obtaining full and correct anamnesis plus general examination of the patient. Based on early diagnosis, paramedics can decide on therapeutical procedures and on directing the patient to relevant hospital. In case of patient with secured life-functions, it is recommended to direct the patient to specialized healthcare facility, which shortens the interval between injury and targeted treatment. Results also point toward the general need that paramedics should undergo regular training in new methods and trends in paramedical care. Using of new methods of capnometry is one case where more widespread usage in paramedical practice could bring significantly better results.
